In which city of Ukraine we will study and live?
Luhansk. It is a city in the Eastern part of Ukraine, not very big, but nice and friendly.
Isn’t Ukrainian the official language of Ukraine?
Yes, the official language of Ukraine is Ukrainian, but there is a huge amount of people, who speak only Russian in Ukraine. The whole Eastern part is the part, which is closer to Russia, especially Luhansk. It takes only one hour to get to the Russian border. People in Luhansk consider Russian as their native language, not Ukrainian.
Can I survive one month in a host family, if I know only a couple of words in Russian?
Of course, you can! First, it will be a good motivation to learn Russian really quickly. Second if you want we can find a family in which some of the members can speak your language. There are many foreign languages schools and institutes in Luhansk, so many of the students would love to host a foreign guest and practice a language they study. And also many people in our city can speak English quite well. So, you will have a lot of options how to communicate with the family and other people.
Who can apply for the program? Are there any restrictions?
No, there are no restrictions. Everyone can apply. Age and level of Russian don’t matter.
When does the course start?
The one month Russian language course “Study & Travel” starts on the 1st of every month. You can come any time that is suitable for you.
How much extra money would I need in Lugansk?
In the price of the program ($1390) almost everything you need is already included: tuition fee, documents for visa, accommodation, all the trips and activities inside and outside the city, transportation, insurance, etc. So, we don’t think you would need a lot of extra money. Just for souvenirs and going out with friends sometimes. For some extra money you can have meals with your host family or cook yourself. Prices for food are low. $200 (USD) for one month will be enough to by food and entertain.
Do you do any tests of Russian level?
Yes, we do tests right before starting the course in order to find out the students’ level of Russian. According to the results students are divided into three groups: elementary, intermediate and advanced.
